Greetings Lions of Oregon,
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊWith this issue Glynis and I conclude our first publication year together as a team. We hope you have enjoyed the many changes we have made to your Oregon Lion paper during this year.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊGlynis and I enjoyed working together. But would you believe that we have only seen each other maybe three times this year. This paper is pro-duced through emails and lots of long distance phone calls. Magically this paper comes together through those efforts.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊOn page four of this issue we address some concerns regarding this paper. We hope you'll take a few moments to read them, and to compre-hend that we are doing everything possible to ensure the success of your monthly Lion newspaper.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊWe need your help. We need your support in search of advertising in-come to supplement the $1.50 that each Lion pays from their annual dues towards the paper. That works out to only 12.5 cents per issue, yet the cost is much higher than that. Advertising income will dramatically help change that picture.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊBut it doesn't end there. Throughout this year, we have asked for each Club to delegate a Club member to act as a representative to the paper. At each opportunity. Including the state convention, 1 have pleaded with Lions to provide us with Lion Profiles. Each Lion has a story to tell. You are all special and have a background and a fervor that is of interest to other Lions. Yet we never hear those stories.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊYour Club should have a historian to record the stories of your Club members while they are still active. We are missing great opportunities if we don't capture those living histories.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊOn another subject, it is my honor to salute the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation upon the occasion of their 50th Anniversary with our front page feature. As many of you know I worked at the Foundation for a few years with a great team of Amber, Paul, Brenda, Karina, Susan and Sherry. I'll always have a place in my heart for all our good times. I'll never forget the laughter as my so-called Twin, Paul Morris, and I con-ducted our skits at various conventions. So OLSHF - Here's to 50 more.
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊPlease see below for a great example of a Club promoting themselves and all the work they do. We invite other Clubs to take a self-portrait and give us a Roar for all their good work. Thank you Beaverton Lions!
